I attended a committee meeting tonight for one of my favorite nonprofit organizations, Girls Rock Camp Atlanta. I was introduced to the organization two years ago when I participated in a Ladies Rock Camp experience that changed my life. I’ve written about that first experience here.
We’re getting ready for this year’s camp, which takes place July 11-16, in Atlanta. Tonight, we were talking specifically about the Girls Rock Camp showcase. This is the performance part of camp, where the girls get to play their original song with their bands. We’re adding sponsorships and a silent auction to this year’s showcase. That’s in addition to the usual ticket sales and some raffle prizes.
I thought I’d ask my visitors here for additional fundraising ideas. If you’ve attended fundraisers or special events before, what worked? If you or your business donated money to certain causes, what prompted you to do so? Have you ever bid on items in a silent auction before? What items did you bid on? Anything we should try to avoid? Thanks in advance for sharing.
By the way, if you want to see an amazing documentary on the original Girls Rock Camp in Portland, OR, you can rent it on Netflix. Below is the Girls Rock! trailer.
